Congress Repeals DADT Policy and Ban Against Gay in Military

In an historic voting, the congress repealed yesterday a ban against gay men serving in the military. Obama this way wins over the opposition and passes one of his major promises, to end the discriminatory “Don’t Ask Don’t Tell” policy.

Democrats looked to pass this bill before the end of session, since the Republicans will have more power on the Congress in the following months. The 17-year-old ban has been lifted with a final vote count of 65-31.
