The country cattle trade was slow on Thursday afternoon with neither side willing to move toward the middle. Bids and asking prices continue to be separated by at least $ 3.00 to 4.00 on a live basis. Asking prices are around 114.00 live and 182.00 plus in the North where bids are at 176.00 to 178.00 dressed. It looks like significant trade will be delayed until Friday. The cattle slaughter at 130,000 head is 1,000 more than last week, but down 1,000 from last year.
