Postmaster General Patrick Donahoe is asking Congress for permission to take drastic steps to save the financially ailing U.S. Postal Service, including breaking union contracts to fire 120,000 employees, loosening a requirement to pay now for future retirement costs, and ending Saturday delivery, the Bloomberg news organization is reporting.
