Ohio’s scab levels down in 2011

After a year of very high scab levels in 2010, Ohio saw the level of Fusarium Head Blight drop in 2011, even though the disease was still present. Most other Midwest states saw even lower levels than Ohio.
One area of the country that saw an increase in scab was the Northern Plains, especially South Dakota where a late, wet spring, coupled with a wet and sometimes hot growing season were factors leading to an increase in several foliar and head diseases, including scab.
