High corn prices hurt profits at ADM

ADM reports earnings for its fiscal first quarter totaled $ 460 million or 68 cents per share compared to $ 345 million or 54 cents a year ago. Net sales were $ 21.9 billion up from $ 16.8 billion. The company says the increase in earnings was mostly due to an accounting change and operating profit fell. Adjusted for the accounting change and other issues, the Decatur, Illinois-based company reported 58 cents per share earnings.
The corn processing segment saw a profit of $ 179 million
