Justin Verlander wins American League MVP

Justin Verlander from Detroit Tigers got the first starting pitcher in a one-fourth of a century to be choosen as MVP, adding to the Cy Young Award he acquired previous week.
Verlander was selected American League most valuable player on Monday, getting 13 of 28 first-place ballots and 280 points in voting heralded by the Baseball Writers’ Assn. of America.
Boston Red Sox centerfielder Jacoby Ellsbury was 2nd with four first-place ballots and 242 points, accompanied by Toronto Blue Jays
