Hog, pig report could show signs of herd expansion

Ahead of Friday’s Quarterly Hogs and Pigs Report, analysts see year to year increases in most major categories and if the estimates follow through, it looks like light herd expansion could be underway.
On average, all hogs and pigs as of December 1 are pegged at 101.3% of a year ago, with the breeding herd at 100.8% and marketings at 101.3%.
