Most analysts see increase in winter wheat acreage

Ahead of Thursday’s USDA numbers, on average, analysts expect a slight year to year increase in U.S. winter wheat acreage.
The dozen analytical firms surveyed by Dow Jones Newswires see winter wheat planted area at 41 million acres, a little bit above the year ago total of 40.7 million acres. Expectations range from 39.6 million to 42.9 million acres.
By type, hard red winter is pegged at 29.6 million acres, which would be up 1.1 million on the year, with soft red winter possibly
