Preparing for winter calving

With the forecast for another cold, wet winter, livestock producers need to make sure their operations are prepared. Purdue Extension beef specialist Ron Lemenager says as the temperatures drop, producers need to think about inputs. “The energy requirements for the cattle and livestock increase,” he says. “That means we need to either feed higher quality feedstuffs or supplemental feeds to offset the windchill and cold stress.”
